RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA -- Linfield Christian School in Temecula has announced that its Board of Trustees has appointed longtime Temecula Valley education expert and leader, Marc Horton, to serve as the new Head of School.

Horton comes to Linfield from the Temecula Valley Unified School District, where he currently serves as Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. However, many Temecula residents know him as the former principal of Great Oak High School.

During Horton's tenure as principal, Great Oak grew tremendously and maintained its status as the highest performing high school in Riverside County, receiving top marks from U.S. News & World Report’s national rankings. The school also saw an increasing number of students successfully outperforming state and world averages in its Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate programs.

“The Linfield Christian Board engaged in a nationwide search, looking for a leader with a strong Christian faith, the heart of a servant, expertise in education and innovation, and a proven record of leading a school community in the creation of a vibrant academic environment for students, Linfield Board of Trustees Chair Terri Delhamer said. “Marc has an understanding of today’s student needs and the ability to engage the school community with his expertise as we seek to achieve our vision of high aspirations for the future of our students.”

Delhamer said Horton is the right person to take Linfield to the next level in Christian education because he will do so in a way that will uphold the school’s Christ-centered focus and traditions, many of which date back to the school’s founding in 1936.
