TEMECULA, CA — LongHorn Steakhouse has officially opened in Temecula.

The new restaurant stands at the site of the old Marie Callender's Restaurant & Bakery location, 29363 Rancho California Road, at the southwest corner of Ynez Road.

Marie Callender's was permanently shuttered in April 2019 and the empty building was eventually torn down, leaving the 1.51-acre lot vacant. The city's planning commission gave approval to the LongHorn project in late 2021.

The new Temecula LongHorn is only the second in California. The restaurant is led by managing partner Jessica Klein, who started her career with LongHorn 18 years ago as an hourly team member and worked her way up to her current role, according to the company.

In addition to a menu of beef and other dishes, the 5,708-square-foot casual-dining eatery offers beer, wine and cocktails.

According to the company, the new restaurant is creating more than 95 new jobs for the community.

LongHorn's hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Situated across the street from LongHorn is a Black Angus Steakhouse, 27737 Ynez Road. During the planning commission's 2021 LongHorn approval, city staff told the commissioners the city has no control over the type of food a permitted restaurant serves.
