RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — Residents whose homes are in any of eight ZIP codes throughout Riverside are now eligible to apply for earthquake seismic retrofit grants ranging from $3,000 to $7,000, officials said Monday.
Until Feb. 21, qualifying residents can apply for the "Earthquake Brace & Bolt" grants if their properties are located within the 92501, 92503, 92504, 92505, 92506, 92507, 92508 and 92509 codes.
Seismic retrofits involve fortifying homes by anchoring them to their foundations and installing braces within crawl spaces. Only properties constructed prior to 1980 qualify.
