Smoke From Camp Pendleton Brush Fire Drifting Into Temecula, Murrieta

Currently, there is no threat to personnel or structures, base officials said.

SOUTHWEST RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — A brush fire reported Thursday afternoon at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton was expected to send smoke across Southwest Riverside County, including in nearby Temecula, Murrieta and Wildomar.

According to an update from MCBCP that went out on social media at approximately 2 p.m., the blaze was burning in the base's Zulu Impact Area, which is just west of Temecula and Murrieta (see map below).

"Smoke may be visible, but there is currently no threat to personnel or structures. The Camp Pendleton Fire Department is on scene," the update read.
