SWR Homicide Under Investigation, Police Say
The investigation led to the hours-long partial closure of an area street on Tuesday.
MURRIETA, CA — Murrieta police on Wednesday are investigating the death of a woman who was killed following an apparent "family disturbance," the agency reports. The woman, who has not been publicly identified, was killed on Tuesday. Her accused killer is now behind bars.
Jacob Lepe, 21, was arrested on suspicion of murder and taken to the French Valley jail, booking records show. He is not currently eligible to be bailed out and is slated to appear in court on Thursday.
Murrieta Police Lt. Mark Reid says it all started around 11 a.m. at a home in the 23000 block of Abury Avenue, which is near Grizzly Ridge Drive and Jefferson Avenue. A family member called police to report the disturbance.

"The reporting party walked away from the residence and called to the Murrieta Police Department to report that a male inside the residence was being aggressive towards members of his family," Reid said in a news release.
Police responded shortly thereafter, and found Lepe "...covered in what appeared to be blood standing over a female on the side of the residence." She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man "did not comply" when police tried to first take him into custody, so they used a Taser on him, according to Reid.
"The Murrieta Police Department Detective Bureau responded and assumed the investigation," Reid said. "The follow up investigation revealed Lepe was responsible for the death of the female."
The street was blocked off for much of the day while authorities processed the scene.
Anyone with information related to the incident was asked to call Detective Sergeant Brendan Carney at (951) 461-6358.
