TEMECULA, CA — A 16-year-old boy suspected of perpetrating a sexual assault on another youth in Temecula was arrested Thursday on suspicion of sexual assault.

The teenager, whose identity was not disclosed because of his age, was booked into Southwest Juvenile Hall following a Riverside County Sheriff's Department investigation that began on Sept. 10.

Sgt. Jeff Reese said that deputies from the sheriff's French Valley station were contacted regarding a recent attack that had occurred in the 27000 block of Nicolas Road, near Winchester Road.

Reese alleged there was a "physical and sexual assault," but no specific details were provided, including how the teen and victim, also not identified, knew one another.

The ensuing investigation was turned over to detectives at the sheriff's Lake Elsinore station, culminating in the suspect's arrest Thursday, Reese said.
