Temecula CHP Arrests More Than A Dozen For DUI In Special Op

Stats related to DUI arrests and crashes during the Independence Day holiday period are now in.

TEMECULA, CA — Officers from the Temecula Area CHP office nabbed more than a dozen people on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs during the recent holiday crackdown, officials tell Patch.

The California Highway Patrol's Independence Day holiday "maximum enforcement period," or MEP, ran from 6:01 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, July 7.

In the unincorporated Southwest Riverside County areas that fall under the jurisdiction of the CHP, a total of 14 people were arrested on suspicion of DUI, according to the agency.

There were nine crashes in which people were injured on the local roadways, and another 15 crashes that resulted in property damage only, according to the CHP. There were no deadly wrecks in the CHP's jurisdiction.

During last year's Independence Day MEP, the CHP made 389 arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs statewide.
