Temecula DUI Checkpoint Nets 2 Arrests, 4 Citations

TEMECULA, CA — A DUI checkpoint operated over the weekend by the deputies in Temecula resulted in two arrests, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
The checkpoint was held from 7 p.m. Aug. 23 to 1 a.m. Aug. 24 at Jefferson and Sanborn avenues.
During the operation, deputies looked for drivers under the influence of any substances that could impair driving, including alcohol, narcotics, some prescription and over-the-counter medications, and cannabis.

The sheriff's department reported that 267 vehicles were stopped at the checkpoint. Two drivers were arrested on suspicion of DUI, and four unlicensed drivers were cited.
Motorists caught driving impaired and subsequently convicted face about $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license, according to the department.

DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on data showing incidents of impaired-driving-related crashes, the law enforcement agency said.
