Temecula Man Who Dealt Cocaine From Home Sentenced

MURRIETA, CA — A convicted felon caught dealing cocaine out of his Temecula home was sentenced Thursday to two years in state prison.

Robert Lee Madden, 31, pleaded guilty last month to maintaining a location for the sale of controlled substances and being in possession of illegal drugs for sale.

No charges were dismissed under the plea agreement, which Riverside County Superior Court Judge John Monterosso certified, imposing the stipulated sentence.

Madden's co-defendant, 49-year-old Michael David Grytness, also of Temecula, pleaded guilty in September to possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to three years felony probation.

According to sheriff's Sgt. Jon Wade, narcotics investigators were tipped off in April to possible drug sales out of Madden's residence in the 42000 block of Kaffirboom Court, prompting them to conduct surveillance of the property.

Investigators observed Grytness and others park at the home on the afternoon of May 4, go inside, then leave moments later carrying what appeared to be contraband, Wade said.

Deputies stopped Grytness' car and detained him. An undisclosed amount of cocaine was seized from the vehicle, Wade said.

A search warrant was obtained and served at Madden's house, at which point additional quantities of drugs were seized, and he was arrested without incident, Wade said.

According to court records, Madden has multiple prior drug-related convictions. Grytness has a prior felony conviction, but records did not specify for what or in what jurisdiction.
