TEMECULA, CA — Police, fire and medical personnel responded to a Temecula park on Wednesday afternoon after a collision involving a sheriff's deputy was reported. Preliminary law enforcement reports indicate a sheriff's deputy on a motorcycle was involved in the wreck, hitting a pedestrian they were trying to detain.
Sheriff's Dep. Robyn Flores tells Patch that deputies from the Temecula sheriff's station spotted a person wanted on firearms, stalking and "other related charges" at Wolf Creek Park around 2:20 p.m.
"While deputies attempted to detain the suspect, a collision occurred between a motor officer and the suspect," Flores said. "The suspect was ultimately taken into custody. Both the deputy and suspect were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries."
