Temecula Valley Elks Announce Contest Winners at Dinner Event
The Temecula Valley Elks #2801 held their 2016-2017 Drug Awareness Dinner and Awards.

From the Temecula Valley Elks: The Temecula Valley Elks #2801 held their 2016-2017 Drug Awareness Dinner and Awards recently. The theme for this year’s contest was “Just Say No.” Prizes were awarded to the first, second and third place winners from the boys’ entries and the girls’ entries in the Poster Contest and the Essay Contest. The girls’ and boys’ entries were scored separately. There were 80+ parents, students and Elk Members in attendance.
Each of the winners received a framed certificate and gift card from Barnes & Noble. Also in attendance at the Dinner and Awards Night was the California-Hawaii Elks State Vice Chairman Diane Farrens and special guest, Elroy T. Elk, the mascot for the Elks Drug Awareness Program, who reminded every to “Just Say No” to drugs.

- 2nd - Valentino Garcia from St. Jeanne de Lestonnac
- 3rd - Joseph Vera from St. Jeanne de Lestonnac
The top three poster winners for the girls were:
- 1st - Zayda Fuertez from St. Jeanne de Lestonnac
- 2nd - Fayana Le from St. Jeanne de Lestonnac
- 3rd—Mia Delacruz from St. Jeanne de Lestonnac

- 1st - Andrew Felkins from Calvary Murrieta
- 2nd - Cory Ogden from Calvary Murrieta
- 3rd - Jacob Kocaya from Van Avery Prep
The top three essay winners for the girls were:
- 1st - Katelyn Sandecki from Calvary Murrieta
- 2nd - Maddie Huter from Calvary Murrieta
- 3rd - Makenna Van Wick from Calvary Murrieta
The top video winner was:
- The Temecula Valley High School Jr. ROTC
The top entry from the Lodge poster entries; the essay entries and the video entries were selected for the District level of competition. The entries that were sent to district were:
- Poster - Zayda Fuertez from St. Jeanne de Lestonnac
- Essay - Katelyn Sandecki from Calvary Murrieta
- Video - Temecula Valley High School Jr. ROTC
The winners at the District Level were:
- Essay Winner, Katelyn Sandecki from Calvary Murrieta and she was awarded $400
- Video Winner, Temecula Valley High School Jr. ROTC and they group was awarded $400
