Temecula Valley USD Graduations, Jobs, Youth Court: 5 Things To Know

Here are five things happening in Temecula this week, June 5-11.

TEMECULA, CA — Here are five things to know in Temecula this week. We hope it's a good one for all!

1. Congratulations class of 2023! Temecula Valley Unified School District seniors graduate this week. Here's the schedule for the graduation ceremonies. Drivers, please be patient. Traffic will be heavy:

  • Chaparral High School: 6 p.m. Thursday, June 8 at the campus stadium
  • Great Oak High School: 7 p.m. Thursday, June 8 at the campus stadium
  • Rancho Vista High School: 4:30 p.m. Friday, June 9 at Great Oak High School Stadium
  • Susan H. Nelson Independent High School: 4:30 p.m. Friday, June 9 at Great Oak High School Stadium
  • Temecula Valley High School: 6 p.m. Thursday, June 8 at the campus stadium

2. The Temecula Planning Commission meets Wednesday, June 7, where the topic of discussion will be the city's Capital Improvement Program. The CIP includes important projects like traffic circulation, road widening and new streets, parks and recreation, housing, and other projects. A draft proposed CIP, which the public had an opportunity to weigh in on during a May 25 workshop, will be discussed during the Wednesday meeting. The primary focus of last month's workshop "was to ensure that City Council’s vision is in line with community needs in the areas of roads, bridges, public buildings, parks and recreation facilities, and housing projects," according to city documents. 3. Attention job seekers, Sprouts Farmers Market is hosting a national hiring event Friday, June 9, through Saturday, June 10, at all its retail locations, including those in Temecula. Employment opportunities with the grocery chain include department managers, assistant department managers and clerks (produce, vitamins and body care, meat and seafood, deli, grocery, bakery and others), cashiers, courtesy clerks, backup receivers, administrative coordinators and scan coordinators. During the upcoming hiring event, interested applicants can walk in and apply at any Sprouts store. Interviews will be conducted from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. both days. Applicants can also text “Sprouts” to 98199 to schedule an interview, according to the company. 4. Southwest Valley Youth Court returns! The Murrieta Police Department, the Menifee Police Department and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department-Southwest Station are hosting the diversion program for minors who are first-time offenders. Their cases are heard before a jury of their peers instead of in criminal court. The minor is represented by a volunteer teen attorney and is prosecuted by a second teen attorney. Juveniles can volunteer as youth jurors and youth attorneys; law enforcement Explorers can volunteer as bailiffs. "Youth Court offers a powerful set of civic opportunities for the youth in our communities while receiving community service hours. Volunteer applications are being accepted for high schoolers living in the cities of Murrieta, Menifee, and Temecula," according to authorities. 5. Join the city of Temecula to celebrate freedom and perseverance at a Juneteenth Celebration, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 10, at Town Square Park (41902 Main Street) in Old Town. "This free, community-wide, special event, hosted by the Community Services Department, will also include live music, dancing, special performances, and fun activities for the entire family," according to the city. "Bring your family and friends to commemorate this landmark day and connect with others through song, dance, and food.
