2 Arrested For DUI In Special Union City Operation: UCPD
Enforcement efforts were part of a national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over mobilization campaign, UCPD said.

UNION CITY, CA — The Union City Police Department arrested two drivers suspected of driving under the influence during a nearly three-week period through Labor Day weekend, UCPD said.
According to a news release announcing the arrests, the enforcement efforts were part of a national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over mobilization campaign, where additional officers were on patrol throughout the country to take suspected impaired drivers off the road.
In addition to patrols, the department also held a DUI/ Driver License Checkpoint Aug. 19, UCPD said.

"Impaired driving is not just from alcohol," UCPD said. "Cannabis products, illicit drugs, even prescription and over-the-counter medications, may impair."
According to the news release, funding for the program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
