7-Eleven Gets Robbed Twice, Teenagers Brawl, Residents Panic About Tsunami

Friday, March 4

Going somewhere? A man was seen staggering to his vehicle in the Alvardo Boulevard parking lot. A citizen contacted an officer on routine patrol, who responded to the location and made an enforcement stop as the suspect was about to drive out of the parking lot. The officer determined he was drunk and arrested him for driving while under the influence of alcohol.

I think you dropped something. As officers were clearing the drunk driving incident, another citizen reported seeing teenagers using drugs nearby in the area of Dyer Street and Arya Court. Officers responded to the location and found five juveniles and two adults walking away from baggies discarded on the ground. The baggies were determined to contain ecstasy pills. All of the suspects were arrested for possession of drugs.

Saturday, March 5

Pepper spray soothes the savage beast. Officers responded to a home on Delores Drive to investigate a family disturbance. The wife said that her husband was drunk and violent, vandalizing the home. She said used pepper spray on her husband to stop his self-destructive behavior after he picked up a knife. When officers arrived, they were confronted by the suspect, who was intoxicated, upset and feeling the effects of the pepper spray. The suspect refused to cooperate and had to be physically subdued. He was arrested for obstructing and resisting arrest.

Don’t come again. Later in the evening, two armed suspects robbed the at 915 Whipple Road. The robbers entered the store, pointing handguns at the two clerks and ordering them to lie on the floor. The suspects ransacked the cash registers and fled the area. Officers responded to the scene but weren’t able to locate the suspects. 

See what happens when you loiter? In the same night, an officer patrolling the Food Maxx parking lot spotted a suspicious person sitting in a parked car. The officer contacted the person and found that he was on searchable probation. During the search, the officer found 28.4 grams of methamphetamine and other drug-related paraphernalia that indicated the subject was in possession of the drugs for the purpose of sales, and was then arrested.

Wednesday, March 9

You’re all grounded! As many as 15 to 25 teenagers were involved in a brawl that occurred in front of . The fight stemmed from issues occurring at and continued after school. A number or those involved were detained and the investigation is ongoing at this time. During the fight, a window at Perry’s Liquors was broken and the suspect responsible was arrested.

Again?! The on Whipple Road was robbed again, this time by three people, one of whom was armed with a handgun. The armed suspect pointed the gun at the clerk and demanded the money from the cash registers. The other two suspects ransacked the area behind the counter while the armed suspect demanded that the clerk open the safe. When the clerk told him he couldn’t open the safe, the suspect pistol-whipped him before fleeing with the other suspects. The victim sustained a minor injury as a result but declined to be transported to a hospital. Officers searched the area but weren’t able to locate the suspects.

Thursday, March 10 

Not quite a role model. A parent was arrested after assaulting a teenager at . Oshana Collins, 32, punched a 14-year-old in the mouth and was arrested by responding officers. She was arrested for two felony counts of inflicting injury on a child and battery with serious bodily injury. The incident stemmed from a large fight the previous day. Read the full story .

Much ado about nothing. On Thursday night and early Friday morning, the police dispatch center fielded more than 40 calls from concerned residents fearing a tsunami would hit their Union City homes due a Bay Area tsunami warning. Patrol units were also being flagged down and asked about evacuations. Homeland Security called the police department and advised that the only possible East Bay impact could be Alameda. No evacuations were necessary, with only a request for people to stay out of the Bay.
