BART train service resumed in the East Bay on Wednesday afternoon after a grass fire near the trackway shut down service.
HAYWARD, CA — BART train service resumed in the East Bay on Wednesday afternoon after a grass fire near the trackway shut down service between the Hayward and Union City stations, a spokesperson for the transit agency said.
The service disruption was reported at about 1:10 p.m. and BART spokesperson Chris Filippi said it was caused by a grass fire near the agency's Hayward Maintenance Complex.
As of shortly after 2 p.m., BART was in the process of restoring normal service, Filippi said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
