UPDATE: Body of Adult Male Found in Alameda Creek

Authorities have blocked off the area between Alvarado Boulevard and Interstate 880 as the investigation continues.

The decomposed body of an adult male was found in the Alameda Creek near the Union City-Fremont border Saturday morning, police said.

According to Sgt. John Lopes of the Fremont Police Department, a citizen reported seeing a body around 10 a.m. along the creek trail near the Alvarado Boulevard exit off of Interstate 880.

Police have yet to identify the body and are currently investigating to determine if it was a suicide, homicide or accidental death, Lopes said.

As of 3 p.m. the Alameda County Coroner's Office said it had not yet picked up the body.

Fremont police and Alameda County Sheriff's deputies were still on the scene and had blocked off the trail with crime scene tape between Alvarado Boulevard and Interstate 880.
