Cafe 86 Opens in Union City

UNION CITY, CA — Cafe 86, a Southern California chain that also has a shop in Las Vegas, has chosen Union City for its first Northern California location.

The cafe specializes in Filipino sweets including ube truffles for $2.99, ube butter bars or ube crack cheesecake for $3.99, churrochi for $4.50, and ube tres leches for $4.99.

If you like photographing your food, you're going to love the beautiful treats from Cafe 86.

The cafe also serves a few sandwiches — pastrami, grilled cheese or turkey pesto.

Then comes the quandary over what to drink. The cafe's signature drink is a halo halo which includes coconut jellies, jack fruit, boba, Frosted Flakes, a scoop of ube ice cream and flan. But they also serve a dizzying selection of milk shakes, milk teas, iced teas, blended lattes, slushes and espressos.

Cafe 84 is at 34391 Alvarado-Niles Road in Union City. Hours are 12:30 to 9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday, and 12:30 - 10 p.m. Friday-Saturday.
