- Why Go:It's the final film in the epic Harry Potter saga. By early afternoon Thursday, fans, dressed as characters from the popular book/film series, were already lined up for the midnight showings.
- Pricing: Call theater for ticket prices.
- Where/When: July 15 at the Humble Horseman, 12350 Cull Canyon Rd. in Castro Valley. Visit their website for more information on how to schedule a free lesson.
- Why Go: It's a great way to learn an incredible new skill while enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Cull Canyon Recreational Area.
- Pricing: Free for the first lesson.

- Where/When: Newark Memorial High School, Newark; Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
- Why Go: Watch local performers in Stage 1’s The Wedding Singer, a musical production of the 1998 movie about a man who was left at the altar that takes place in the 1980s.
- Pricing: $10-$22
- Where/When: Third and H streets, Fremont; Saturday at 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Why Go: Enter your dog in a show or bring your pet along to watch others get crowned in various categories, including best costume and best performer. The event also features a Doggie Water Park and canine demonstrations.
- Pricing: Free for spectators. To enter your dog into the show, the same-day cost is $20. Registration begins at 9 a.m.
- Where/When: Shirley Sisk Grove at NewPark Mall, Newark; Sunday at 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Why Go: Listen to live music and enjoy the outdoors during a free afternoon concert at the Grove. This week’s concert will feature Big Band Beat.
