Plans Underway For Union City's National Night Out
The annual event promoting police and community partnerships will take place nationwide Tuesday, Aug. 1.
UNION CITY, CA — As summer continues to heat up, plans for Union City's National Night Out are already under way, and while individual neighborhoods are planning everything from barbeques and potlucks to block parties, this year, Union City Police will host a big event at the Union Landing Shopping Center.
National Night Out, when residents from around the city, along with tens of thousands of other neighborhoods across the country, will turn on their outside lights, lock their doors, and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police, is celebrated by millions of people annually.
The event promoting police and community partnerships, will take part In Union City and across the nation Tuesday Aug. 1.

"We will have activities, music, food, and entertainment," Union City Police Department said in a news release about the event. "UC patrol officers, members of the UCPD, California Highway Patrol (CHP), Alameda County Fire Department (ACFD), and city officials will be in attendance."
UCPD will bring along specialty vehicles such as its SWAT truck, Mobile Command Vehicle, drones, robots, and many of its other first responder vehicles that participants will be able to see throughout the duration of the event scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m.

While UCPD will not be able to travel to individual neighborhood block parties this year due to limited resources, those wishing to participate can still hold their own parties or can help support the department's event by becoming a sponsor.
Company and individual sponsorships for both product donations for raffles and financial sponsorships are available, the city said.
Free booths for the event are also available, the city said.
"All sponsors will be recognized by having their company name and logo advertised on the Union City PD's– National Night Out social network platforms and the flyers we distribute," the city said.
The deadline for confirming sponsorships is June 30, 2023, and in order to guarantee that company logos are featured at the event, they must be submitted by the same date.
