Police Log: Elderly Woman Falls Inside Home, Gets Stuck for Three Days

Friday, Nov. 4

Two arrested at known drug house, 25 grams of meth recovered

Officers on patrol noticed two men loitering in front of a known drug house. Officers noticed a meth pipe in one of the men’s pocket and conducted a search. According to the report, officers recovered 25 grams of methamphetamine packaged for individual sales, along with a large sum of cash and other items indicating drug sales. Both subjects were arrested and booked into Fremont jail.

Burglars vandalize vacant home

Officers investigated a burglary at a vacant home on Shied Drive. Unknown suspects entered through an unlocked window and vandalized the inside of the home.  Officers noted extensive damage to the sheetrock and gang graffiti sprayed all over the inside of the home, the report said.

Woman found dead in home

Also on Saturday, officers were sent to a home on Skylark Drive to investigate the report of a 57-year-old woman found dead on her bed. Officers contacted the woman’s doctor and learned that the woman suffered from multiple health problems. The coroner’s officer responded and took over the investigation to determine the cause of death.

Sunday, Nov. 6

Jaywalker arrested for carrying large knife

An officer on patrol stopped a man who was jaywalking in the area of Alvarado Niles Road near Union Landing. During the stop, the officer noticed that the man had a large, 14-inch knife concealed in a homemade sheath hanging on his belt, the report said. The man told the officer the knife was for protection. He was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon.

Monday, Nov. 7

Bomb threat at Chevron

Officers responded to the Chevron on Alvarado Niles Road near Decoto Road on the report of a bomb threat. After a search of the building, no devices were located and business was allowed to continue.

Hospital reports infant child abuse

On Monday night, officers were sent to a local hospital to investigate a report of child abuse involving a very young infant. The child has been transferred to an area hospital that specializes in child abuse related injuries and Child Protective Service is working with UCPD to ensure the child’s safety, according to the report. Investigators are conducting follow-up interviews with the child’s parents, caregivers and medical staff to determine the circumstances surrounding the child’s injuries.

Tuesday, Nov. 8

Strange note left at bank

An officer responded to US Bank to investigate a suspicious note left on the counter.  According to a bank teller, the note was left the previous day. The note said, "ANONYMOUS...We do not forgive, We do not forget, Expect us.” The case remains under investigation. (Ed.’s note: Anonymous is the name of a group of online hackers and activists. “We do not forgive, we do not forget, expect us” is one of their slogans.) 

Elderly woman trapped in home for three days

Also on Tuesday, officers responded to an apartment complex on Nidus Court after a resident heard a faint cry for help from inside a neighbor’s locked apartment. When officers arrived, they determined a 96-year-old woman had fallen three days prior and had been unable to move. Because the unit was locked, officers used force to enter the home upon the woman’s request. The woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Man brandishes firearm

Later on Tuesday, officers responded to Skylark and Osprey drives to investigate a report of a man who brandished a firearm at a passerby. When officers arrived, they located a group of five males; one of them matched the description of the person with the firearm. According to the report, the subjects threw items into a nearby yard where officers later found of drugs. Officers also found drugs in one of the subject’s vehicles.
