Thursday, Sept. 1

Suspect arrested after exposing himself at Mission Hills Middle School

On Thursday night, officers were sent to investigate a report of indecent exposure at Mission Hills Middle School, a private school located on the former Barnard White Middle School campus on 250 Tamarack Drive. The victims told police that the suspect had pulled down his pants, exposed his penis and gyrated his hips. Officers searched the area and located a suspect near Ithaca Street, according to the report. The victims positively identified the suspect and placed him under citizen’s arrest on suspicion of indecent exposure.

Drunk driver arrested after accident

On Friday night, officers responded to a car collision at the intersection of Alvarado-Niles Road and Dowe Avenue. According to the report, one of the vehicles failed to stop for the red light and ran into the other. The injured driver was intoxicated and arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol and driving on a suspended driver’s license, the report said. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Home burglarized while children hide in bedroom

A suspect was arrested Friday night after a home burglary on Periwinkle Drive where three children were home alone inside. According to the report, the children hid in a locked bedroom upstairs until officers arrived. The first officers surrounded the home, while another officer detained a suspicious person nearby on Smith Street near the railroad tracks. The children were safely taken out of the home. Officers then searched the home with K-9s. No suspects were found inside the home but the oldest child positively identified the suspicious person detained nearby as the person inside the home, according to the report. He was arrested on suspicion of burglary.

Saturday, Sept. 3

Man attacks prison officer after being arrested on drug charges

On Saturday night, a patrol officer saw a man run in front of a vehicle in the area of Ninth and H streets. The man then appeared to be chasing two other subjects. The officer went to investigate and discovered the man was under the influence of methamphetamine and arrested him without incident on suspicion of drug charges, the report said. He was later taken to Santa Rita Jail by a prison transportation officer. At the jail, the suspect became combative and attacked the transportation officer, according to the report. The officer, with help from Alameda County Deputies, restrained the man and secured him in a holding cell. He now faces an additional charge on suspicion of battery.

Women arrested with stolen vehicle, heroine at Union Landing

Also on Saturday night, a patrol officer at Union Landing spotted a suspicious vehicle and checked the license plate registration. It came back as a vehicle stolen from Hayward, according to the report. The officer detained the driver as she was exiting the vehicle until the officer could confirm the vehicle was stolen. The driver was eventually arrested on suspicion of auto theft and possession of .8 grams of heroin that she had on her person.

Sunday, Sept. 4

Teen bicyclist hit by vehicle at busy intersection

A 15-year-old was struck by a vehicle Sunday afternoon while riding a bike in the intersection of Alvarado-Niles and Decoto roads. According to the report, the teen was hit when the driver failed to stop behind the limit line. The teen was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Monday, Sept. 5

Bizarre man wreaks havoc at Safeway, Taco Bell

On Monday night, officers were sent to Safeway on Decoto Road to investigate a report of a suspicious person. The subject approached employees and told them that people were after him. As officers were en route, the man activated the fire alarm, causing chaos in the store, the report said. The man hid in a back office and came out an hour later, after which he went to the nearby Taco Bell across the street. The manager of the restaurant called police the report the same person acting bizarre, according to the report. Officers found him inside Taco Bell wearing a bulletproof vest, carrying a crow bar and a police baton, and in possession of a syringe containing a controlled substance, the report said. He was arrested on suspicion of  a number of charges and transported to jail.

Thursday, Sept. 8

Man robbed at gunpoint in front of his home

A man was robbed in front of his home on the 4200 block of Solar Circle Thursday morning. He was walking to his front door after parking his car when he was approached to two men. One pointed a semi-automatic handgun at the victim and demanded “everything you got,” according to the report. The victim handed over his wallet and cell phone to the suspects, who fled on foot toward endeavor drive, the report said. The armed suspect was described as a black male in his early 20s, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a white design on the front. The second suspect was described as a black male about 5’10”, also in his early 20s and wearing a button-up long sleeve shirt and dark pants.
