Schools Foundation Membership Drive Extended to End of Month
The New Haven Schools Foundations, which has pledged to donate $100,000 to the school district, is seeking support from the community.

The , which is donating $100,000 to the District this year to help save athletics, band, color guard, forensics and other after-school activities, is looking for support from the community. The Foundation is extending its 2011-12 associate membership drive through the end of November.
“At this time we have raised just over half of our pledge,” Foundation President Cindy O’Brien reports. “In order to be in a position to support students and programs in the future, it is essential that we raise the funds to meet this obligation.”

To become an NHSF Associate Member, download the form from the Foundation website and make a donation. Thank-you gifts include a bumper sticker ($50 donation), a commuter mug ($100 donation), a license plate frame ($250 donation) and a polo/golf shirt ($500 donation).
In addition to the $100,000 donation, the Foundation’s support for New Haven students included an additional $70,000 in direct grants to teachers and programs and in college scholarships for 55 graduating seniors

“If you have not joined as a member because of cost, a donation of any amount would be appreciated,” Ms. O’Brien noted. “Our entire focus is on the New Haven Unified School District, so you can be assured that your donation `stays local’ and that 100 percent directly helps our kids and our teachers.”

On a related note, the “” held Sunday by the New Haven Boosters Association, which is helping the New Haven Schools Foundation with its $100,000 donation, raised nearly $4,000. Julie Ballard, maintenance operations technician at the District’s Corporation Yard, won the chili cook-off sponsored by Texas Roadhouse.
