Union City Woman Killed in Hit-And-Run Near Fremont BART Station Tuesday

Several witnesses provided statements about the hit-and-run.

Fremont, CA— A 65-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run in Fremont on Tuesday night, police said.The collision was reported at 9:28 p.m. on Walnut Avenue near the BART station and just east of Civic Center Drive, according to police.

The victim, a 65-year-old Union City resident, was found lying in the eastbound lanes of Walnut Avenue. She was taken to a hospital but later succumbed to her injuries, police said.

Her name is not yet being released by the Alameda County coroner's bureau pending notification of next of kin.

The vehicle that struck the victim was described as a silver or gray SUV or van that was traveling east on Walnut Avenue prior to the collision and fled in the same direction, according to police.

The suspect and vehicle, which may have front-end and passenger side damage, remain at large, police said.

Several witnesses provided statements about the hit-and-run. Police are asking anyone else with information about the case to call the Police Department's traffic unit at (510) 790-6760 or to email traffic investigator K. Snow at ksnow@fremont.gov.
