Five Things: Father Identifies Son’s Body, Venice Fest Ice Cream, West Nile Virus

Here are five things to know in Venice-Mar Vista for today and the upcoming weekend.

1. Patch received a letter Thursday night from the father of the man whose body was found at Venice Beach Wednesday evening, identifying him as Randall Hedin. Read his letter here.

4. Have plans for Sunday? Join the peace ride and rally for Trayvon Martin at 1 p.m. Sunday in El Segundo. 5. Five people in Los Angeles County have tested positive for West Nile virus, making them the county's first human cases of the 2013 season, according to the county Department of Public Health.
