LAPD Officer Suspected of Taking Bogus Military Leave

A Los Angeles police officer was arrested today on a charge of grand theft for allegedly submitting fictitious military leave documents, costing the city more than $5,400, the department announced.

LAPD Officer Christine Bulicz, a 15-year veteran, was taken into custody about 9:30 a.m. by LAPD Internal Affairs detectives and booked at the Century sheriff’s station, according to jail records.

The 42-year-old officer’s arrest came after months of investigation by the LAPD’s Special Operations Division in conjunction with the California Army National Guard Provost Marshal’s office, according to the department.

Bulicz’s alleged falsification of military leave documents permitted her to take paid time off for which she was not entitled, according to the LAPD.

The Justice System Integrity Division of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office has filed two grand theft counts and one attempted grand theft charge -- all felonies -- against Bulicz, who was being held in lieu of $30,000 bail, according to jail records.

An arraignment date was not immediately set.
