Venice Neighborhood Council Candidate: Scott Burroughs
Patch asked the VNC candidates a few questions to help voters decide in the Oct. 28 election.

Editor’s note: This is one of several articles in a series of profiles on Venice candidates.
What would you prioritize if you were voted in?
I would put the community first and make sure that we deal with the quality of life issues that plague us on a day-to-day basis. The fixes for these issues might be complicated, but action needs to be taken to make sure the area is a safe and healthy place to live.

Who are your primary supporters?
Find out what's happening in Venice-Mar Vistafor free with the latest updates from Patch.
I’m supported by Venice residents and workers that want to see Venice grow and flourish without losing sight of its past. This is a golden age here in Venice, and my supporters understand that progress can be a positive and energizing thing for a community.
What issue do you feel most strongly about and what’s your position?
Development and safety. These two issues hit close to home for many because issues like parking and traffic are never far from a conversation about the changes in Venice, and because everyone wants to be able to walk home from dinner at a restaurant at night. I want to see some of the recent changes, such as the boardwalk clean-up, be strengthened and expanded.
What's one thing most constituents don't know about you?
That my law firm specializes in representing artists, writers, designers and other copyright holders that have been violated in some way by the bad guys.
Why did you decide to run?
I wanted to contribute to this glorious and special place that we are lucky enough to call home. Despite its imperfections, we all have a special relationship with the place, and we need to ensure that the future is as bright, if not brighter, than the past.
