Attempted Carjacking Suspects Caught In Walnut Creek
A citizen intervened in the carjacking, causing the suspects to run off, police said.
WALNUT CREEK, CA — Two men were caught during an attempted carjacking Saturday in Walnut Creek, police said.
At 5:42 p.m., Walnut Creek police officers responded to a carjacking that was in process in a parking lot in the 2500 block of North Main Street. Two male suspects opened the front passenger and driver's side doors and dragged the male victim out of his car, then kicked him in the stomach in an attempt to steal his car, Walnut Creek police Lt. Bruce Jower said.
When a citizen intervened, the suspects ran off.

Officers were on the scene within minutes and saw the suspects running on Third Avenue. The officers set up a perimeter and found the suspects hiding on Cameo Court.
The suspects, identified as William Hleza and Emmanual Hleza, both 20 years old of Pittsburg, were safely taken into custody, Jower said.

Both were arrested on suspicion of attempted carjacking, kidnapping and conspiracy and were booked into the Contra Costa County jail in Martinez on $350,000 bail each, Jower said.
"No weapons were involved, and the victim sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene," the lieutenant said.
