Walnut Creek Compost Giveaway Booked

The compost giveaway for Walnut Creek is fully booked, organizers say.

NOTE: THIS EVENT IS BOOKED.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — Walnut Creek residents can get up to 50 gallons of free compost Saturday, thanks to a new initiative from RecycleSmart and Republic Services.

Composting is an environmentally friendly alternative to throwing away food waste, which makes up 20 percent of landfills and contributes to methane emissions. Instead, composted waste can act as a soil conditioner and introduce beneficial moisture and nutrients into the soil, and reduce the need for harmful pesticides.
