For Dogs Only: Danville Park Opens Early

Hap Magee Ranch Park will open January 22 this year. State drought restrictions mean no new sod will be laid, so the park opens earlier.

DANVILLE - A dog park in the town of Danville will be open about two months earlier than normal as a result of a drought-related decision, according to town officials.

Hap Magee Ranch Park at 1025 La Gonda Way in Danville is slated to open on Jan. 22, ahead of the expected March 1 date.

Usually the park is closed from the beginning of December until March in order to give the grass fields time to heal and new sod to be laid, according to town officials.
