Man Charged In 2 Walnut Creek Burglaries: Police

The Antioch resident was caught in the act of one burglary and then linked to the second, police said.

WALNUT CREEK, CA—Police say an Antioch man was caught in the act of a recent Walnut Creek home burglary thanks to an alert citizen who reported seeing a suspicious person in their neighbor's backyard.

It happened around 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, in the 1100 block of Flowerwood Place. Police allege Joshua Spaincue, 34, was inside the residence when officers responded.

Walnut Creek police Lt. Bruce Jower said officers also linked Spaincue to another burglary in the 800 block of Bancroft Road.

Spaincue was arrested and booked into the county jail in Martinez on suspicion of first-degree burglary and second-degree burglary.

Walnut Creek police detectives presented the case to the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office, which filed two counts of burglary against Spaincue.

He also faces charges of violating his probation and remained in custody Monday without bail, jail records showed.
