Modern, Barn-Like, Stucco? Give Input On New WC Community Center, Pool
A survey asks Walnut Creek residents about architectural building styles and recreational pool amenities for the Heather Farm Park project.
WALNUT CREEK, CA — The City of Walnut Creek wants to hear input from residents on recreational pool amenities and architectural building styles as it works to replace both the aquatic and community center at Heather Farm Park.
The survey asks residents what their favorite building is in Walnut Creek, and which architectural style they prefer. Is it traditional barn-like or traditional stucco? Or modern with wood and concrete; modern with metal and glass; or modern with mixed materials? Small windows or large windows; a gabled roof or a shed roof? These are some of the questions posed by the city as it tries to get a feel for what residents believe will fit best with the community.
"The existing facilities have served the community well for more than half a century, but the aging aquatics and community centers are in need of replacement," city officials said Thursday.

The project is being funded primarily by the Walnut Creek voter-approved Measure O, a 10-year, half-cent sales tax measure.
"Significant work has been done to get the project to this point, and we invite you to learn more on the project website where you can also view the conceptual site plan," the city said. "The City is seeking your input through this community survey to ensure the new facilities will best balance the needs of the community well into the future."
