Discover the fascinating connection between plants and people at OAK-TOBER Fest!

The day will include hands-on demonstrations, crafts, vendors, story time and more!

- Enjoy some flavors from the Garden and goodies from our visiting food truck.
- Visit the Garden for an exhibit on plants in our collection that hold special roles in the lives of people (be it food, drink, dye, medicine, etc).
- Shop from unique vendors who mesh the botanical world with their arts and crafts.
- Kids can explore their creativity with story time, crafts, and a pumpkin hunt in the Garden.
- Dress up in costume (kids, adults, and dogs) for the chance to win some awesome prizes!

11:00- 11:45 – Free Talk with Sara Calvosa Olsen – Food Sovereignty: The historical challenges to Tribal community food security and how Californians can join together to ensure a more food secure future for all, one acorn at a time. Sara Calvosa Olsen is the author of Chími Nu’am, which shares the author’s delicious and inventive takes on Native food styles from across California.
