Obituary: Mary Catherine Suta 1928 - 2022

The former Walnut Creek teacher taught at Rancho Romero, Walnut Creek Elementary and Lafayette Seaborn School.

ALAMO, CA — Mary Catherine Suta was born and raised in the East Bay. She graduated from Holy Names University. While a student, she met her husband Joe, then attending UC Berkeley. They married and had five children together.

Joe graduated from law school and pursued a professional career while Mary became a teacher. She taught at Rancho Romero, Walnut Creek Elementary and Lafayette Seaborn School.

In 1979 Mary competed in the Mrs. California-America pageant and won the Mrs. Congeniality Trophy.

"She had a wonderful life with a life partner of 69 years singing and dancing all the way to heaven."

Mary is survived by her children Patrick Suta, Concord; Karen Henderson, Yuba City; Elizabeth Suta, Walnut Creek; Michael Suta, Concord; and daughter-in-law Denise DiPinto Suta, Sacramento; grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
