WALNUT CREEK, CA — A Walnut Creek police officer submerged herself in canal water to rescue a distressed kitten earlier this week.

The incident occurred on Monday, when the officer climbed into the canal along the Iron Horse Regional Trail to come to the animal’s aid.

“We’re happy to report our furry friend found a home and is safe now, thanks to the heroic act from our officer today and everyday,” the Walnut Creek Police Department said in a Facebook post.
