The Weekender: Downtown Halloween, Model Railroad Show, Harvest Festival

Some of the events happening this weekend in the Walnut Creek area

As you plan your weekend, here's some of the activities in Walnut Creek from Friday morning to Sunday afternoon.

On Friday morning,
 a seminar on estate planning and charitable giving will be held.

The event begins at 11 a.m. at the Walnut Creek Library, 1644 N. Broadway.

On Friday afternoon, a trick-or-treating party will be held downtown.

The program begins at 2 p.m. and lasts until 5 p.m.

Businesses will provide costumed children with treats. Walnut Creek Downtown is sponsoring the event.

On Friday evening, the production "Don't Dress For Dinner" debuts at the Lesher Center for the Arts, 1601 Civic Drive.

The performances are at 8 p.m. Friday, 8 p.m. Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

Also on Friday evening, an open house will be held for model railroad train enthusiasts.

The event begins at 8 p.m. at the Walnut Creek Model Railroad Society's facility in Larkey Park, 2751 Buena Vista Ave.

On Saturday afternoon, the Harvest Festival & Trunk or Treat will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2317 Buena Vista Ave.

The event begins at 3:30 p.m. It features a haunted playground, games, prizes and decorated trunks with candy.

On Saturday evening, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light The Night Walk will be held.

The event begins at 5 p.m. at Civic Park, 1375 Civic Drive. The 2-mile walk raises money for the non-profit organization.

Also on Saturday evening, the show "Their Roots Are Showing" will be presented at the Del Valle Theatre, 1963 Tice Valley Blvd.

The performance begins at 7 p.m. It's presented by the California Genealogical Society.

On Sunday morning, Valle Verde Elementary School will hold its annual fall carnival.

The event begins at 11 a.m. at the school, 3275 Peachwillow Lane.

Also on Sunday morning, the annual Howe Homestead Harvest Festival will be held.

The event is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Howe Homestead Park, 2950 Walnut Blvd.
