Walnut Creek To Search For New Assistant City Manager

Assistant City Manager Teri Killgore, who accepted a position in Arizona, was an integral part of the city's economic development programs.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — Assistant City Manager Teri Killgore is leaving the city of Walnut Creek after nearly six years.

Killgore was expected to depart in early April for a position as the economic development director for the city of Scottsdale, Arizona, according to an announcement from Walnut Creek City Manager Dan Buckshi.

"We brought Teri in as a consultant, and realized she would be a good fit in our leadership structure," Buckshi said. "She has served as interim director for Administrative Services and Community Development and as the Director of Human Resources. More recently Teri has been an integral part of our Economic Development programs."

Killgore became the assistant city manager and economic development director of Walnut Creek in 2019. She has more than 18 years of management experience in cities in Arizona and California, including San Jose and Vallejo.

In Walnut Creek, Killgore was instrumental in the transition to outdoor dining during the pandemic, as well as other high-profile issues in the business community and the city at large.

Killgore said she enjoyed the different aspects of her time in Walnut Creek

"I had the experience of directly overseeing different departments, including having significant involvement in Economic Development," Killgore said. "The business community and the Walnut Creek community as a whole will be tough to leave, but I’m excited about my new position."

A recruitment for a new assistant city manager was expected to be launched soon.
