Walnut Creek Veterans Day Ceremony To Feature Elena Kim

Kim served as a human intelligence collector during Operation Iraqi Freedom and currently helps produce and co-host "Veterans Voices."

WALNUT CREEK, CA — The City of Walnut Creek will host its annual Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11.

The commemoration is free to the public and will take place in the Hoffman Theater at the Lesher Center for the Arts, 1601 Civic Drive.

Walnut Creek Mayor Cindy Silva will host the event. The theme of this year's ceremony is "Service," and the program will pay tribute to the honorable men and women who have served our country.

The keynote speaker is Elena Kim, who served as a human intelligence collector in the U.S. Army from 2005 through 2010 in conjunction with Operation Iraqi Freedom. Kim currently serves as the director of the County Veterans Service Office in San Francisco. She also is an associate producer and co-host of "Veterans Voices," a monthly TV show covering topics of interest to veterans throughout Contra Costa County.

The Walnut Creek Concert Band will perform musical selections, including traditional salutes to each of the U.S. Armed Forces, under the direction of Matthew Sadowski.
