Watch: Walnut Creek Mayor Cindy Silva Gives Final Update For 2023

WALNUT CREEK, CA — Walnut Creek Mayor Cindy Silva is preparing to hand over the gavel Tuesday to the city's next mayor for 2024 — Loella Haskew — but before she does that she shared one last update Friday.
Silva addressed this weekend's Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony in Civic Park, upcoming holiday events, City Council recruitment, and more in her final Mayor's Update for 2023.
"This will be the first Civic Park tree lighting in a number of years and we look forward to welcoming the community," Silva said. "It has been truly an honor to serve as mayor this year and I want to thank the hundreds of community members who worked throughout the year to make this community so special."

Regarding the new Winter Wonderland-themed holiday decorations in the downtown area, the mayor said they are courtesy of the city's partnership with the Walnut Creek Downtown Business Association and will remain up through mid-January.
