Coast Guard Rescues Monterey Co. Divers In Distress Saturday

The divers were near Lovers Point when they drifted about half a mile from their boat, Coast Guard officials said.

MONTEREY COUNTY, CA — The U.S. Coast Guard on Friday assisted two divers in distress in Monterey Bay after the divers drifted away from their boat. The divers were near Lovers Point when they drifted about half a
mile from their boat, Coast Guard officials said. On Friday at 2:27 p.m., the crew of the passenger vessel Blackfin notified the Coast Guard they spotted divers flying their distress flag, according to the Coast Guard.

The passenger vessel was not able to pick up the divers, because it was at full capacity, but it remained at the location until the Coast Guard crew arrived. At 2:55 p.m., a 47-foot motor lifeboat from the Coast Guard
Station Monterey arrived, and the crew pulled the divers out of the water and took them back to their boat.

The divers did not report any medical concerns.
