Cops Quell Bomb Prank at MacQuiddy Elementary

A 10-year-old boy threatened to blow up his school on Saturday.

The administrative staff at T.S. MacQuiddy Elementary School has an interesting task on its hands — disciplining a student that made a prank bomb threat on the school on Saturday.

At 4:39 p.m. on Jan. 19, a 9-1-1 call was made to report the threat against the school made by a 10-year-old boy.

Police quickly deduced that it was an unfounded prank that posed no real threat, Sgt. Eric Taylor told Watsonville Patch.

"It was handled by us and documented, but the school will be handling it administratively with the family," Taylor said.

Because of the child's age, there is no serious action the police department will take.

"The young child probably now understands the gravity of what he did," Taylor said.
