Earthquake Rattles Bay Area Residents

The quake was felt across the Bay Area, according to the USGS's "Did You Feel It?" map.​

BAY AREA, CA — An earthquake centered near the Central Coast rattled San Francisco Bay Area residents Sunday morning.

The 4.2 magnitude quake struck at 2:47 a.m. about 2 miles northwest of Aromas, an unincorporated community in Monterey and San Benito counties, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. It was measured at a depth of about 4.3 miles.

The quake was felt across the Bay Area, including in Alameda, Gilroy, San Francisco, San Mateo, San Jose, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Sunnyvale and Watsonville, according to the USGS's "Did You Feel It?" map.
