FEMA Teams Canvassing Storm-Damaged Parts of Santa Cruz County

WATSONVILLE, CA — Santa Cruz County on Tuesday announced that federal Disaster Survivor Assistance teams will be out in parts of the county impacted by recent atmospheric river storms to help identify anyone who may be eligible for federal assistance.

The teams, part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, will be canvassing along the Santa Cruz County side of Summit Road through Thursday as well as along Eureka Canyon Road and various side roads from Friday through next Monday.

The teams will also set up stations at Summit Store at 24197 Summit Road from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day through Thursday, as well as at the Corralitos Market & Sausage Co. at 569 Corralitos Road from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday to Monday.

FEMA is also developing plans for the county's Boulder Creek and Ben Lomond communities that will be announced at a later date, Santa Cruz County officials said.

Santa Cruz County was hit hard by a series of winter storms that started in late December. Earlier this month, state officials said more than 300 residents in the county were still in emergency shelters as a result of the storm damage.
