Firefighters Extinguish Monterey County Vegetation Fire Wednesday

BREAKING: Fire officials determined the cause of the fire to be faulty power lines.

MONTEREY COUNTY, CA — Firefighters extinguished a vegetation fire Wednesday morning in Monterey County, according to Cal Fire officials. At about 9 a.m., Cal Fire officials received reports of a vegetation fire near the unincorporated community of Bradley in the southern part of Monterey County.

Crews from Cal Fire, the South Monterey County Fire Protection District and the nearby Camp Roberts National Guard Base responded to the area near the intersection of U.S. Highway 101 and Alvarado Road. At the scene, crews found about five to ten acres of fire burning in grass and brush. No structures were threatened, fire officials said.

As crews arrived, they received reports of downed power lines. According to fire officials, firefighters made an aggressive attack and were able to minimize the spread of the fire, which was contained at 9:55 a.m. Crews remained on the scene to check for hotspots. There were no evacuations or road closures, and no structures were damaged.
