Major Injuries After SUV Strikes Pedestrian

Officers responded to reports of a collision between a car and pedestrian Friday night at South Green Valley Rd and Silver Leaf Dr.

WATSONVILLE - A man was seriously injured when a car hit him in Watsonville just east of state Highway 1 on Friday night, police said.

Officers responded to a report of a collision between a car and pedestrian at South Green Valley Road and Silver Leaf Drive shortly after 10 p.m., police said.

A person driving a black SUV west on Green Valley Road struck a man crossing the street, according to police.

The pedestrian suffered major injuries to his head, torso and legs, police said.

He was airlifted to a trauma center, where he was in serious but stable condition as of early Saturday morning, according to police.

The SUV driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said.

It does not appear drugs, alcohol or cellphone use were factors in the collision, according to police.
