Pedestrian Seriously Injured After Crash Near Watsonville

A Watsonville driver hit a woman walking in the lane of the road Monday night. Impairment is not suspected, CHP said.

WATSONVILLE, CA — A 33-year-old woman suffered major injuries when a vehicle struck her north of Watsonville in Santa Cruz County on Monday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officers responded at 7:43 p.m. to the collision reported on Green Valley Road at Minto Road.

A 53-year-old man from Watsonville driving a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee east on Green Valley Road hit the woman who was walking in the eastbound lane of the road, CHP officials said.

She suffered major injuries and was taken to Natividad Medical Center for treatment. The Jeep driver suffered minor injuries in the collision.

The cause of the collision is under investigation but CHP officials said impairment does not appear to be a factor.
