Serial Peeping Tom Arrested, Caught Climbing On Hotel Roof: Police

A man suspected of peeping-tom incidents dating back to September was caught red handed Friday, police said.

MONTEREY, CA — A man who was seen climbing onto the roof of a Monterey hotel is suspected of peeping in hotel room windows in a series of incidents since September, police said Friday.

Michael Clark, 33, of Modesto was taken into custody about 10:18 pm. Tuesday by officers conducting surveillance at a hotel in the 1300 block of Munras Avenue, police said.

He was accused of attempted burglary, trespassing and peeping and was held on $500,000 bail in connection with four other incidents, including:

  • On Sept. 13, 2023, a woman on the second floor of a hotel told police she saw a man looking through her balcony window.
  • On Jan. 29, a hotel reported having video of a man looking into windows and attempting to enter rooms by trying the door handles.
  • On Jan. 31, a woman said she saw a man masturbating outside her hotel window.
  • On March 18, a woman reported seeing a man looking through her hotel room skylight.
