Watsonville Man Shot Multiple Times Rushed To Hospital

Police in Watsonville are investigating a shooting that sent a man to the hospital Tuesday night.

WATSONVILLE - Police in Watsonville are investigating a shooting that sent a man to the hospital Tuesday night.

Officers responded at 7:04 p.m. to the area of Prospect and Lincoln streets on a report of multiple shots fired and located evidence of a shooting but did not find a victim on the scene.

An officer responded to the hospital just as a 24-year-old shooting victim arrived at the hospital in a personal vehicle, police said.

The victim was suffering from a gunshot wounds to his upper torso. Police said the victim and the occupants of the vehicle were not cooperative with investigators.

It appears the victim was walking in the area of Prospect Street and Freedom Boulevard when three Hispanic men in their 20s drove down Prospect Street in a brown or gold vehicle and exchanged words with the victim, police said.

The vehicle drove around the corner, and a passenger got out, ran toward the victim and shot at him multiple times.

The victim was hit multiple times before he fled on foot, and friends drove him to the hospital. His injuries were not considered life threatening, police said.

The suspect vehicle was last seen in the area of northbound Lincoln Street and Broadis Street.

The shooting is being investigated as gang-related.
