Watsonville Woman Suspected Of Torching Trash Can Arrested: Police

BREAKING: Julia Solorio Carrillo allegedly set fire to a trash can near the Santa Cruz County Bank.

WATSONVILLE, CA — A 31-year-old Watsonville woman has been arrested on suspicion of setting a trash can on fire near the Santa Cruz County Bank Monday morning. Watsonville police said Julia Solorio Carrillo was arrested after she allegedly set a fire in a trash can near the rear door of the bank at 595 Auto Center Drive around 7:20 a.m.

A witness to the fire pulled the trash can away from the building by the time officers arrived. Police said after fire investigators reviewed video surveillance from the bank, they determined that a female suspect, allegedly Carrillo, had intentionally started the fire.

Police located Carrillo, who matched the suspect description, near 260 Rodriguez St. She was followed and then detained by police in the area of Main Street and Central Avenue. Carrillo has been booked into Santa Cruz County Jail. She was also cited on one count of possessing methamphetamine and was wanted on a felony warrant.
