UPDATE: Bomb Squad Checks Out Suspicious Item in West Hollywood

Some evacuations have been ordered, and traffic is routed away from the area.

A sheriff's bomb squad was been sent to inspect a suspicious item found near the 500 block of North Alfred Street in West Hollywood, according to the sheriff's department. Some evacuations were ordered, and traffic was routed away from the area, which is near the intersection of La Cienega Boulevard and Melrose Avenue.

The Center for Early Education, a prestigious private elementary school located nearby, was evacuated, the Los Angeles Times reported. 

Authorities said the device was determined to be a harmless discarded bottle, according to the Times.
