Businesses Evacuated, Bomb Squad Called Over Suspicious Package: Police
Melrose Avenue was closed and nearby businesses were evacuated, according to police, who determined the area was safe as of mid-afternoon.
WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA — Businesses were evacuated and a bomb squad was called after a suspicious package was reported Sunday in West Hollywood, according to police.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department received a report Sunday morning about the package, which was dropped off in the 8800 block of Melrose Avenue, police said. Sheriff’s deputies responded around 11:20 a.m. and a bomb squad was also called, according to police, who said the road was closed and nearby businesses were evacuated.
Authorities determined the package did not contain hazardous materials and the area was cleared to reopen as of 2 p.m., police said.
